I haven’t even seen one in person yet. 13 miles... how does this even happen? Maybe someone put down a deposit on a First Edition months ago and just hated it when they finally got it?

That’s how we got our Explorer. A guy ordered a Limited, but they delivered an XLT with everything on it. He took it, drove it around for a little while, then asked the dealer to get him what he asked for the first time. I think it had just a couple hundred miles when we got it.

I like the look though - like if it was too much more modern it wouldn’t really be a Defender. But it doesn’t really matter what I think because I don’t have the money to buy one anyway.

I absolutely love the interior as I’ve seen it in videos. I was checking the dealer site just because luxury dealers around here tend to have an interesting assortment of used cars but I may go by at some point just to see the Defender in person to see if that holds up.

Either the loan fell out after the buyer took delivery or the vehicle was turn used by the dealer for some reason. No one “hates” a $50-75K vehicle after only 13 miles.

Maybe the loan thing - banks are working slow now. Interesting comment above about wrong trim being delivered and the customer decided to try it but didn’t like it... seems unlikely for a first edition but maybe they wanted to trade it in on a real specific build or something. Seems way too low miles for dealer use. I guess it’s possible they were going to keep it as a demo for a while but maybe they are so popular they just figured they’d sell it.

I hope actually actively most of the things I think never end up really mattering. My day job is engineering for a thing that will hopefully sit on a shelf until it’s expiration date never ever be used. So I’ve just expanded that philosophy to everything.

I built one up in the configurator with the turbo 4, steel wheels, cloth seats, and a bunch of the adventure gear (roof rack, ladder, side boxes ) plus a few other little options in green with a white roof for just over $60k. It’s actually kind of tempting for that price but still more than I’ll spend. Here’s hoping Ford gives us a decent Bronco trim at $40k.

You know that might be most accurate explanation yet given the amount of money in this town. We have under 100,000 people but a MB, Lexus, BMW, and Land Rover dealers while the Mazda dealer just went out of business. And homeless people on every street corner. Santa Fe is weird.
